Oncology Massage

Research has shown oncology massage helps manage symptoms and improves the quality of life for people with a history or diagnosis of cancer.

I provide gentle, adapted massage for people currently receiving cancer treatment, those in recovery or seeking support during survivorship or palliative care.

What to expect

I have advanced training in oncology specific massage and trained with Oncology Massage Training Ltd, Australasia’s leading educator in specialist touch therapies.

The advanced training included training in hospital practice protocols within a hospital simulation ward with real patients with complex medical history.

These gentle, evidence-based techniques have been refined through thorough understanding of how cancer develops and metastasises. Every session is carefully tailored to meet you where you are, considering your energy levels, medical history, co-morbidities and any side-effects you may be experiencing.

Oncology massage is safe and calming, and it can help alleviate some of the side effects of cancer treatment such as pain, neuropathy, fatigue, anxiety, nausea and depression.

Our fascia (the largest contractile organ in the body) is deeply affected by cancer treatment. This type of massage is not about deep pressure, but about creating comfort and restoring a sense of ease in your body. It can also promote better sleep, improve mood, and provide a moment of stillness in the middle of your treatment.

  • Gentle, evidence-based massage adapted for every stage of your cancer journey

  • Advanced training with Australasia's leading specialist in oncology touch therapies

  • Every session tailored to your energy levels, medical history, and treatment plan

  • Helping alleviate pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea, and depression safely

Working Alongside Your Medical Team

I work alongside your medical team by adjusting techniques, including pressure, site, and position, to ensure your comfort and safety. Certain areas such as ports, recent scars, irradiated skin, and medical devices are avoided, and I may wear nitrile gloves to eliminate any infection risk to you as well as myself.

The scheduling of your sessions, whether before or directly following chemotherapy, will be discussed so that I can best assist you at the right time. If your body is particularly fatigued, we may reduce the length of your massage to avoid overloading your system, potentially causing a negative effect.

Some techniques can be performed when you are fully clothed; however, most are best completed with partial clothing and full hand-to-skin contact. This is about you feeling comfortable and being able to fully relax, if you would rather be fully clothed, that is absolutely fine.

“Cancer is no longer primarily an acute illness; it is a chronic disease that demands person centred care and long term management”

  • I came to you on recommendation from a friend when I was looking for remedial massage and advice post-surgery for lymphatic issues and seroma. Your conduct has always been professional, comfortable (wonderful bed and ambiance, from your wall posted information to oils used and information provided) specifically for my situation. I've had a lot of rubs, massage and ad hoc professional therapist hands on me over the years dealing with breast cancer and none is as attentive and educated as you. Always expanding your skills and knowledge with study and personal education when something piques your interest and is valuable to your service. I appreciate the holistic approach which is often not provided by a GP or specialist in the field!

  • First visited Carole on the recommendation of a family member, and I am so grateful that I did. The treatment I received was exceptional. Carole is highly knowledgeable, extremely professional, and genuinely caring. Her kind and compassionate approach helped me immensely during my recovery after surgery. I received Holistic Remedial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and Therapeutic Electrostatic Oscillation treatments. Following immunotherapy, I was left with ongoing health issues, including lower back problems, and these treatments have provided significant relief and greatly improved my overall wellbeing. Carole takes the time to listen, understand your concerns, and tailor treatments to your individual needs. Her expertise, professionalism, and caring nature make every visit a positive experience. I would highly recommend Carole to anyone considering the treatments she provides. You will leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and feeling much better than when you arrived.
